I was always involved in sports in school, especially basketball and volleyball. After I graduated from college, there weren’t sports. 😲🤷🏽 Even though I tried several times, I just could NOT get into running, or doing the same routine over and over again. I would get so bored and eventually stop. I was desperate for something that would keep me interested. My friend, who can run for daaaaaays, signed us up for a free class at Farmgirlfit. After that first class, I went home and took a 3 hour nap! 😂 It completely wiped me out, but I LOVED it, so I came back!
Earlier in the day: What’s the workout gonna be? I don’t know if I can go. Maybe I’m busy.
Walk in the door: Okay, I got this.
Look at The Grind: Ah, crap…
Warm-up starts: Why am I already sweating so much???
The Grind starts: Just keep going. Just keep breathing. I’ve never been so tired… This is torture! What? I’m done? YAY!! Can’t wait for next time!
My mental attitude. I would always be so negative on myself when it came to exercise. I would always compare myself to others and tell myself, “Let’s be real, you’ll never be able to make it to where they are. Why even try?” Now I know, I don’t exercise for others, I exercise just for myself and it’s the only way to go.
To keep going! Pushing myself to getting a higher 1RM and maybe even lift more than my own bodyweight one of these days.
Work from Home by Fifth Harmony
My favorite exercises are the ones where we go to a 1RM. I love pushing myself to going a little bit farther than last time and it is so rewarding when I do! My least favorite are plate pushes and burpees. 😝
The coaches. They are the BEST!!
It has influenced everything! Being sore has basically become the norm…and I almost look forward to it in a weird sick way. I know that after the Grind, I will be happy and have a great feeling of accomplishment.
I teach music to students in 1st-10th grades, plus teach lots of private music lessons, as well as do a lot of music at our church, so in a word, 🎶MUSIC🎶. I also can’t get enough time to spend with my husband and Border Collie, Makani.
My mom got breast cancer when I was 16. They tested her for the BRAC gene and she was positive. So when I was 20, I got tested to see if I had the gene and it was positive. Even though I loved sports, I also love food…way too much. So I was never super healthy and have always struggled with my weight. This July, my mom, who also struggled with weight, was diagnosed with metastasized breast cancer. It was my wakeup call to be healthier, not only for myself, but also for my husband and future kids. I think of her every time I go the gym. 💗
I play a lot of instruments and the tuba is my specialty. I have also traveled to over 30 countries.
In the surf and sand in Hawaii with my haole husband.
It’s going to kick your butt every single time, but it’s the best thing you can do for yourself!
